The ASEM SMEs Eco-Innovation Center (ASEIC, Chairman of the Director KwangChun Chung) held the opening ceremony of the Green Innovation Cooperation Center (GICC) in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Tuesday, February 11, 2026.
Key government and institutional representatives from both Indonesia and Republic of Korea, including Head of Performance Management and Cooperation Bureau of Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises of Indonesia, Bastian, Main Supervisor of the Ministry of Cooperatives of Indonesia, Daniel Asnur, Commercial Attaché at theEmbassy of the Republic of Korea in Indonesia, Jong-Ho Han, and Deputy Director at Korea’s Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Min-guk Son, along with representatives from related organizations and businesses attended the ceremony.
GICC is shifting its operational approach from a traditional closed system to an open platform that is easily accessible to any company in the eco-friendly and climate technology sectors. Going beyond providing office space, GICC aims to foster networking, collaboration, and tangible business opportunities among companies, positioning itself as a global hub for climate tech innovation.
In particular, GICC has relocated to the Mega Kuningan area—an optimal location adjacent to Indonesia’s Ministry of SMEs and various foreign embassies—thereby strengthening close cooperation with local government bodies and related institutions.
Chairman KwangChun Chung stated that “GICC represents not merely a relocation of space, but a strategic transformation in the way we support SMEs.” He added, “By combining the strengths of local governments and related institutions, we aim to maximize the effectiveness and impact of our support.”
Chairman Chung further emphasized, “Green growth is achieved not in isolation, but through solidarity,” expressing his hope that “GICC will become a practical cooperation hub guiding ASEM and ASEAN toward a sustainable green future together.”
Meanwhile, ASEIC plans to expand joint projects with local governments and international organizations through GICC, while focusing on building a sustainable growth foundation that enables Korean SMEs to advance beyond ASEAN into global markets, including Europe.
